RELEASE:
Meadows Statement on President Trump Signing S. 1595 to Target Hezbollah

Washington, D.C. – Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) released the following statement reacting to President Trump’s signing of S. 1595, the "Hezbollah International Financing Prevention Amendments Act of 2018,” which expands sanctions on countries supporting Hezbollah and its agents:

“President Trump’s signature on S. 1595 will be a force in disrupting Hezbollah’s financial networks around the world. This has been a priority of mine in Congress since 2014 when we introduced H.R.4411, the Hezbollah International Financing Prevention Act, to target the terrorist organization’s foreign assets while also designating the group as a transnational criminal organization.

I applaud President Trump for his leadership and want to thank Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce for helping lead the way on this initiative in the House of Representatives. No doubt, this sends an unequivocal message to the world that America will not tolerate the sponsorship of terrorism.”
