Meadows Statement: Rod Rosenstein Owes the American People Answers
Washington, D.C. – Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) released the following statement on reports that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein will not answer questions before Congress on Thursday, October 11, regarding his alleged comments on President Trump:
“It is disappointing Rod Rosenstein will not be answering questions before Congress tomorrow—to put it mildly. The Deputy Attorney General owes the American people answers about whether he participated in any conversations or decisions seeking to undermine President Trump’s administration from within. There is reason to be deeply concerned he did.
The Department of Justice has tried to claim members of Congress have been ambiguous about their requests for oversight on this matter. This is not accurate. The choice before them is clear: show up, answer questions, and be a part of the solution; or refuse transparency and continue being a part of the cover up. At this point, if the Deputy Attorney General will not show up voluntarily, it is abundantly clear we need to subpoena him. Failure to compel testimony on these questions would amount to a dereliction of duty on the part of Congress.”
