The House Freedom Caucus released the following statement on President Trump’s executive order pertaining to religious liberty:
“President Trump’s executive order on religious liberty is a major step toward fulfilling his campaign promise to protect the first freedom of all Americans – the right to free exercise of religion. Today’s order reins in an IRS that has been wielding its power to silence Americans. President Trump’s guidelines to federal agencies will make sure that people of faith are protected, not discriminated against.
This order also addresses Obamacare’s mandate that forces groups like the Little Sisters of the Poor to cover contraception and abortifacients in their health insurance plans. As Congress works to repeal Obamacare, this move by the Trump administration shows the president’s commitment to protecting the conscience rights of all Americans, and we applaud him for it.”
