Immigration Update I wanted to give you an update on news surrounding the immigration debate and where we stand in Congress. Right now, unfortunately, the House of Representatives is not acting on immigration, instead choosing the let the Senate go first and try to pass their own bill--and I believe this is the wrong approach. The Senate has already failed to pass any of the four measures they considered. If the House is going to wait for 60 Senators to figure out an immigration bill first, we m... Read more

Government Shutdown Recap Many of you were probably following the news last week as the government shut down for 3 days. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and a minority of Democrat Senators made the decision to block a spending bill from passing because they wanted a DACA (immigration) deal attached to the bill. Ultimately, that never happened and the government did re-open, but much occurred in between that I’d like to cover. First off, I wanted to make sure to answer a question I received... Read more

Supporting Israel As you may have read by now, President Donald Trump recently announced that the United States recognizes Jerusalem as the true, undivided Capital of Israel. The United States will also be relocating the US embassy to Jerusalem. There are times throughout the United States' history when our Presidents have sent the rest of the world a clear, powerful message of leadership and conviction. I believe this historic moment will be remembered as one of those times. After 8 years of da... Read more

Speech at Family Research Council’s “Values Voters Summit” Last week I was honored to speak at the Family Research Council's "Values Voters Summit"--speaking just before President Donald Trump! It was great to see the President—he sends his best wishes to the people of North Carolina and remembers your voices well from the campaign season. How encouraging it is to have a President that has not forgotten the men and women who put him in the White House. You can watch the full video of my speech ... Read more
