Rep. Meadows Named Chairman of Subcommittee on Government Operations
Washington, D.C. – Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) has been named Chairman of the Subcommittee on Government Operations for his second term. Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) announced his selections for Oversight Subcommittee Chairmanships on Monday.
The Subcommittee on Government Operations has jurisdiction over the Department of Treasury, the Executive Office of the President, the Postal Service, the Department of Labor, and the Office of Management and Budget. Its mission is to ensure that “federal agencies are open and transparent in their execution of federal law, and that Americans will be able to more effectively hold public officials accountable with the knowledge that access to information provides.”
Rep. Meadows released the following statement on his appointment:
“I’m thrilled to continue working alongside Chairman Chaffetz and so many other outstanding colleagues on the Oversight Committee, and I’m confident that this role will put me in a unique position to serve our country—most importantly, serving the people of Western North Carolina. I want to thank the Chairman for the exciting opportunity, and I look forward to working with a group of men and women who are committed to holding our officials accountable and ensuring transparency in our government.”
